![]() Rugged and large tread blocks provide lots of surface area to grab terrain off-road, while siping and step-down edges provide grip in snow and icy conditions. From there, a three-ply sidewall ensures the tire is up to the task of fending off damage to the generally more vulnerable sidewall. First the tire performs off-road thanks to a rubber compound that is honed to resist cuts and chipping. With the Patagonia X/T, the plan was to continue the focus on off-road capability while maximizing the on-road manners of the new tire. This was a market filled with names that you as an off-road enthusiast recognize, but Milestar got just about everyone's attention with a well-priced and aggressive true mud-terrain tire. Milestar came into the off-road market like a bull into a china shop. It's a great platform to push these tires to the edge of their intended use. In short, there isn't much we dont ask of this truck. We've also towed some 3,500- to 4,000-pound camping trailers with the truck on family camping trips, probably racking up 1,000 or so miles as a tow rig. Its skidplates are well tested, and we've taken it to places where front and rear lockers would have been more than a good idea. Despite being relatively new, the truck has witness marks on the front and rear bumpers where rocks and dirt have come in contact with the body. That is to say, the truck gets used as a minivan and has also seen some pretty extreme off-road conditions, mainly involving sharp rocks and steep climbs. The truck is a pack mule that sees duties ranging from elementary school drop-offs to hitting backcountry trails that push the limits of the truck's capabilities. ![]() Our intention was to run these tires on our daily driven (and hard-pushed) off-road 2020 Toyota Tacoma. We got a set of these Milestar Patagonia X/T tires in an LT285/70R17, a tire that is basically a 33x11.50R17 in a flotation size.
